Ohio State’s first-ever black football uniform officially unveiled

The Buckeyes will wear these long-rumored new digs at home against Penn State on Oct. 17.

While the look is mostly black from head to toe, the uniforms also include scarlet and white stripes, hinting at Ohio State’s more traditional look. The numbers are scarlet with a white outline, while the helmets are a sleek black with the same stripe as the uniforms.

The Buckeyes have worn Nike throwbacks and Pro Combat-style uniforms before, but never this big of an overhaul.

The defending champions went 4-0 in non-conference play, and have games at Indiana and at home against Maryland before they get to break these out against Penn State. There’s a very good chance the Buckeyes will be 6-0 for that occasion, and they won’t be the only team sporting a good record. The Nittany Lions are 3-1, with a 1-0 record in the Big Ten, and with games against Army and Indiana, they seem a decent bet for a 5-1 record heading into this one.
