Navy vs. Notre Dame 2015 odds: Fighting Irish double-digit betting favorites

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish look to get back on track after last week’s loss at home against the Navy Midshipmen as betting favorites.

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 5-1 straight up and against the spread in their last six games overall. The Fighting Irish will try to bounce back from their first loss of the season last week with a win at home against Navy this Saturday in South Bend.

Notre Dame is a 14.5-point home favorite on Saturday according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Irish are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games as a double-digit favorite.

Entering the third quarter in Clemson down 21-3, Notre Dame didn’t go down without a fight. The team clawed back into the game and even scored a touchdown with seven seconds left to earn a chance to tie on a two-point conversion. The conversion fell short though, and the Fighting Irish left South Carolina with a 24-22 loss.

The fourth quarter effort on the road could serve as a valuable experience for sophomore quarterback DeShone Kizer to use moving forward. Notre Dame returns home where it is 6-0 SU and 3-3 ATS in its last three October games per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Midshipmen vs. Fighting Irish OddsShark Matchup Report

Navy has looked strong on both sides of the ball this season and is 5-0 SU and ATS over its last five games. The Midshipmen have averaged 38.5 points per game while allowing only 15 points per game so far this season. Quarterback Keenan Reynolds has rushed for 488 yards and nine touchdowns as the leader of Navy’s option running attack.

While the Midshipmen have certainly passed the eye-test thus far, the team will face its toughest opponent of the season this week at Notre Dame. Navy is 0-4 SU in its last for games against Notre Dame.

Saturday’s total is currently set at 54.5 points. The total has gone OVER in each of the last five games between Navy and Notre Dame.

While this game will be the focal point of Navy’s season, it is just another tough game for Notre Dame coming off the Clemson loss and going up against USC next week. The Midshipmen have covered the spread and lost by 10 or less in each of their last two games against Notre Dame, and should be able to do the same this week.
