The call came deep in Central Michigan territory, as Chips’ cheerleaders were positioned in the back of the end zone. There was no initial indication of what the cheerleaders were doing beyond making noise, which is kind of their jobs as cheerleaders.
The half-filled Kelly/Shorts Stadium came to life after the call, and the sudden noise led Toledo kicker Jameson Vest missed a chip shot field goal that would have given the Rockets a seven-point lead.
