Alabama vs. Mississippi State odds 2015: Crimson Tide betting favorite on the road

Firmly in control of their own playoff destiny, the Alabama Crimson Tide look to avoid an upset this Saturday on the road against Mississippi State.

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

The Alabama Crimson Tide are 16-2 straight up in their last 18 road games against conference opponents but just 3-7-1 against the spread over their last 11. The Crimson Tide are on the road this Saturday, taking on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Starkville.

Alabama is an 8-point road favorite on Saturday, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Early action on Alabama has moved the line from its opening spot at -7 up to the current line of -8.

With its 30-16 win over LSU, Alabama established itself as the team to beat in the SEC and perhaps in the country, as well. Jake Coker was solid again under center, but the star of the game was undoubtedly Derrick Henry, who rushed for 210 yards and three touchdowns on 38 carries.

The defense was also sensational in holding Leonard Fournette to only 31 yards on 19 carries and not giving LSU any room with which to work. Alabama is now 8-1 SU and 4-5 ATS on the season.

In the last seven games between Alabama and Mississippi State, the Crimson Tide are 7-0 SU and 4-3 ATS per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Crimson Tide vs. Bulldogs OddsShark Matchup Report

Losses to LSU and Texas A&M in the first five games of the season took Mississippi State out of the running for the SEC West title early. But despite lacking the headlines from last year’s campaign, the Bulldogs have had a strong year in 2015 thus far with a 7-2 SU and 6-3 ATS record.

Mississippi State is 3-0 SU and ATS over its last three games and has won each of those contests by at least 18 points. The Bulldogs have covered the spread in their last two games against Alabama.

Saturday’s total is set at 50 points. The UNDER is 7-0-1 in the last eight games between the Crimson Tide and the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State is a good team that could easily cover the spread if Alabama falters. But Alabama hasn’t faltered in big games this season, especially on the road where the Crimson Tide are 2-0 SU and ATS. Look for Alabama to keep on rolling with another win and cover this Saturday.
