Georgia player injured by coach’s celebratory helmet slap

Cornerback Rico McGraw was briefly knocked down by a really excited assistant.

In a flawless microcosm of his team’s season, Georgia cornerback Rico McGraw was apparently injured when Bulldogs defensive assistant coach Mike Ekeler slapped him in the head while celebrating a Georgia defensive stop.

McGraw collapsed to the sideline and received medical attention. Ekeler, in his second season as linebackers coach for the Bulldogs, did not initially realize he had injured McGraw.

McGraw returned to his feet a few seconds after the slap and was back in the game on Georgia’s next defensive series. At least one of his teammates found the situation funny.
