Consider what had to happen for this play to happen. Pat Mahomes had to misfire right to Holton Hill, Hill had to more or less intercept the ball instead of misplaying it or batting it down, Devin Lauderdale had to be right there to crack Hill, and Jakeem Grant had to be a ship passing in the night who could snare the football off the ricochet and race in for a touchdown.
Given the stakes, it’s hard to make a comparison to the Immaculate Reception hold up -- neither Texas Tech nor Texas will win more than seven games this regular season. But the idea’s basically the same, and you just won a battle against tryptophan.
