College football odds 2015, Week 14: Iowa underdogs, Alabama betting favorites

Alabama, Clemson, Michigan State and Iowa all look to be one win away from a spot in the College Football Playoff heading into the week.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The Iowa Hawkeyes have won each of their last eight games against Big Ten opponents. The Hawkeyes will meet the Michigan State Spartans this Saturday in the Big Ten Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Iowa is a 3.5-point betting underdog against the Spartans, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Like Iowa, Michigan State has enjoyed its share of success against Big Ten opponents recently with a 24-2 straight up record in its last 26 games against conference foes. The winner of this game will almost certainly advance into the College Football Playoff.

The Florida Gators are 4-0 SU and against the spread in their last four games following a loss. That stretch of success could come to an end this Saturday as the Gators are a 17-point underdog squaring off against the Alabama Crimson Tide at the Georgia Dome. Florida is 1-8 ATS in its last nine games against Alabama.

Like Alabama, the Clemson Tigers can lock up their spot in the College Football Playoff with a win in their conference title game this Saturday. The ACC Championship Game features the Tigers as a 6-point favorite against the North Carolina Tar Heels at Bank of America Stadium. Clemson is 6-2 SU and ATS in its last eight games played on Week 14.

The Stanford Cardinal are a 4-point favorite against the USC Trojans in the Pac-12 Championship Game at Levi’s Stadium. Stanford ended the Notre Dame Fighting Irish’s bid at a playoff spot on Saturday night with a thrilling 38-36 win, and will now try to cap off an excellent regular season with a win in the Pac-12 title game. USC is just 2-6 ATS in its last eight games after covering the spread the previous week.

Two of the best teams outside of the power five conferences meet in the AAC Championship Game when the Temple Owls visit the Houston Cougars. Houston opened as a 7-point favorite but is down to -5, with early betting action coming in on the Owls. The Cougars went 11-1 SU and 7-5 ATS this season, losing their only game by a field goal against Connecticut. Temple is 5-1 ATS over its last six games according to the OddsShark College Football Database.
