LSU vs. Alabama 2015 odds: Crimson Tide betting favorites over Tigers

The Alabama Crimson Tide are favored over the LSU Tigers for their marquee college football odds matchup in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The Alabama Crimson Tide are 4-0 straight up and 2-1-1 against the spread in their last four games against the LSU Tigers. The Crimson Tide will try to continue that dominance over their rival this Saturday against the Tigers in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama is a 6.5-point favorite at home on Saturday, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Crimson Tide have been favored in each of their last eight games against LSU, going 6-2 SU and 4-3-1 ATS over that stretch.

When the College Football Playoff Committee released its first set of rankings this week, many were surprised to see Alabama in the Top 4 over a handful of undefeated teams around the nation. The ranking suggests that the Crimson Tide may control their own destiny in the race for a playoff spot, and a win this Saturday against LSU would only strengthen the team’s resume.

Alabama’s scoring defense ranks third in the nation, allowing 16.4 points per game.

Despite a 7-1 SU record, the Crimson Tide haven't done a good job covering the spread this season. Alabama is 2-5 ATS over its last seven games including an 0-5 ATS record at home per the OddsShark College Football Database.

LSU Tigers vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

When: Sat., Nov. 7, 8 p.m. ET

Where: Bryant-Denny Stadium, Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Betting Line / Total: Alabama -6.5 / 48.5 Points

Usually known as a defense-first team, the Tigers have been winning their games this year due to their dynamic offense. Heisman frontrunner Leonard Fournette leads the nation in rushing yards and has helped the Tigers score at a clip of 38.9 points per game. Fournette has rushed for at least 150 yards and a touchdown in all seven of the team's games. LSU is 7-0 SU and 4-3 ATS this season.

Saturday’s total is set at 48.5 points. The total has gone over in each of LSU’s last six games, with an average of 65 total points scored per game.

Four of the last six games between Alabama and LSU have been decided by a touchdown or less. On paper, this figures to be another close one. Alabama doesn’t blow many teams out, and LSU’s running game should keep the Tigers in the game right down to the end as 6.5-point road dog.
