Saturday’s college football TV schedule: Bowls kick off, FCS playoffs and more

Oh, you thought college football Saturdays were done for the year?

John Reed-USA TODAY Sports

Saturday has not abandoned us yet. Before we enter into the long winter that is the college football offseason, we get a few more of these days with bunches of games bursting all around the country. Of every day left on the season’s calendar, today’s the day with the largest sheer number of football things happening, and for that we give thanks.

(The full bowl schedule is here, and see below for today’s festivities.)

Five bowl games kick off FBS’ postseason, highlighted by the BYU-Utah Las Vegas Holy War, which means FBS is just catching up with everybody else. Division I’s bigger and older playoff tournament is already almost done, with today’s FCS semi deciding who’ll play North Dakota State on Jan. 9.

Today is the debut of the Celebration Bowl, which pits the champions of the MEAC and SWAC against each other.

The Division II Championship is also today, with Mount Union having won its 12th Division III title Friday night. NDSU and Mount Union are in the title mix and Arizona and BYU are in the New Mexico and Las Vegas bowls, proving some holiday traditions just never get old.

All times ET.
