There aren’t really any open college jobs for Chip Kelly, which might not matter

Good morning! This is your wakeup newsletter of college football stuff and Baylor’s current sixth-string quarterback.

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Chip Kelly’s made it clear before he didn’t exactly adore everything about being a college coach. So, even though we had fun imagining him as the solution to various open jobs this carousel, his official exit from the Eagles probably doesn’t signal a return, if he can help it.

Besides, the only remaining open gigs are Ball State and Texas State, two mid-majors a bit beneath Chip’s level. Though he did joke about hearing from North Texas State.

Bleeding Green Nation has the two simple reasons Kelly’s looking for a new job, and the two most-speculated potential destinations are both fun for college fans. A reunion with Marcus Mariota in Tennessee? A reunion with one-time Oregon commit Johnny Manziel in Cleveland?
