THE READ OPTION: Quick NFL Draft prep for college football fans

Good morning! It’s NFL Draft day, but college football stuff is still going on.

The 2015 NFL Draft is finally here, beginning Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN, WatchESPN and NFL Network. I'm sure you've all spent months meticulously preparing for today, but in case you had something better to do, we've got you covered from all possible angles.

Dan Kadar’s final mock draft is here, with Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper the surprise choice at No. 3 behind FSU’s Jameis Winston and Oregon’s Marcus Mariota, setting up dual runs on receivers and pass rushers. And the rumor tracker is stocked to the gills with all the piping hot buzz, Mariota and otherwise.

What if recruiting ratings determined the NFL Draft order? Dorial Green-Beckham would be going No. 1, for one thing. Yes, despite all the newspaper columns to the contrary, blue-chip recruits are much more likely to be drafted than their lower-ranked counterparts. So, all those non-blue-chip first-round picks? Here's a map of where they come from.

You know all about the potential top-10 picks, but here are 23 soon-to-be draftees whom college football fans will really miss.

Where does your school rank on the top 300 big board? And on the individual position rankings? Also, check out these scouting reports by Stephen White, Danny Kelly and Louis Bien. We promise they’re more fun than most things called “scouting reports.”

Which schools lose the most early-entry talent? FSU, USC and Florida. However, the Noles have a chance to break an all-time NFL Draft record.

Generate your own scouting report! Share with your friends for lots of laughs!

Now, for the rest of the news:

Hit the road. Now that UAB has cut football, the Blazers might need to go find a new conference home for their other sports. Conference USA bylaws provide that football is a requirement for membership, and the waiver that UAB brass were hoping for is reportedly not coming.

Could’ve predicted this. The Big 12 will probably add a championship game while staying at only 10 teams, according to commissioner Bob Bowlsby. This is dependent on an NCAA rule change, but the commissioner speaking about the chances makes it seem likely.

Also, an ex-Big 12 commish disputes everything you thought you knew about BYU’s chances of joining.

Everything you need to know about Tennessee you can learn from Steven Godfrey’s inebriated friend.

Bonesville! Bill C’s preview series moves on to East Carolina, where Ruffin McNeil is trying to keep the momentum moving, while replacing quite a bit.

No. Alabama’s Cyrus Jones and Auburn’s Elijah Daniel were arrested.

Just in time! Baylor’s non-conference schedule was the subject of much derision. In response, Baylor has added a home-and-home with Utah ... in 2023 and 2024.

New uniforms. UConn unveiled a new set of uniforms, and the brief experiment of having the husky located inside the helmet stripe is over. RIP Dogstripe.

Also unveiling new uniforms was UNLV, which threw Las Vegas’ iconic welcome sign onto the back. Thumbs up.
