Plaxico Burress blasts Nick Saban for NFL Draft comments

The former NFL star receiver had some not-so-kind words for his former college coach.

Former New York Giants star receiver Plaxico Burress will not be a part of Nick Saban’s recruitment efforts anytime soon, if ever.

The Super Bowl XLII champion was amused by comments made by the Alabama head coach Wednesday afternoon and publicly slammed Saban on Twitter. The 63-year-old coach expressed at SEC Media Day that his team was distracted in their New Year's Day Sugar Bowl loss to Ohio State by several players contemplating their NFL Draft stock. Burress, who was coached by Saban at Michigan State, reminisced on how Saban thought he was not a top pick for the 2000 NFL Draft.

Burress then proceeded to paint Saban as a hypocrite and a liar for leaving Michigan State for LSU in 2000.

Thankfully for Burress, he did not listen to Saban’s skepticism. The Spartans standout was drafted seventh by the Steelers in that 2000 draft.
