Auburn is officially the SEC favorite ... but not the SEC West favorite

Happy Friday! It’s your daily roundup of college football stuff.

SEC Media Days thankfully concludes. Thursday's offerings included Les Miles trying to get a cameraman to avoid walking into a pole and Mark Richt's very short haircut.

Also, Alabama and Georgia were picked to win the divisions, yet Auburn was picked to win the conference. The Tigers appear second in the West but first overall, thanks to first-place votes.

Now that SEC Media Days are mercifully over, we have the 10 biggest takeaways from this week in Hoover. It may or may not be Bret Bielema saying "borderline erotic" 10 times.

Flimsy. By now, I'm sure you've heard Nick Saban's critique of the NFL Draft evaluation process, one which he claims distracted some Alabama players against Ohio State. Our Steven Godfrey and Bud Elliott worked through the logic of Saban's comments, and they really don't make a whole lot of sense.

TCU and Baylor split every Big 12 first-place vote. Imagine saying that five years ago!

Ugh. Sports tend to be cyclical in nature, so chances are you root for a team that’s either been recently bad or is currently bad. The numbers rank the 10 worst teams of the past decade, and good heavens, I hope you don’t have to put up with horrible football like that anytime soon. Especially you, Washington State fans.

Air Bears. Cal bounced back from a total disaster in Sonny Dykes’ first year to look promising in 2014. Their explosive offense should be good for another burner; all they need is their defense to not be historically abject and they could be pretty good.

Answer truthfully. How would you prioritize winning, graduating players, and “doing it right?” Well, if you’re an Iowa fan, your school wants to know your answer.

Cardale Jones didn’t land a date with Ronda Rousey, but he still managed to impress her.

Old is new. After three years with names on the back of the jerseys, Penn State is going back to the no-name look. The switch was made to honor the players that stuck with the program amidst heavy NCAA sanctions, but with sanctions lifted, they’re returning to the old look.

“Personal style.” Texas’ AD has reportedly been asked to change his.

Confidence is important. Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze said the Rebels are so confident they did nothing improper in regards to star Laremy Tunsil’s recruitment, that the tackle would be on the field if the season started today. Tunsil’s stepfather spoke with NCAA investigators and has alleged the Rebels committed violations while recruiting his stepson.

Crootin’!

Just when you're least expecting it. HATIN' ASS SPURRIER OFF THE TOP ROPE! Enjoy your weekend, everyone.
