Exactly how Braxton Miller’s switch makes the country’s scariest offense scarier

Good morning! Here’s your daily wakeup roundup of college football stuff.

Details! A lot of the talk following QB Braxton Miller's move to H-back was mostly "Wow, that's pretty good," so here's a more detailed look at how exactly the former star quarterback will fit into the already strong Buckeye offense:

Look at how the other H-backs have been used in Urban Meyer’s offense. Other than just running routes and catching passes like a wide receiver, he will get the ball in a variety of ways. He will be used in jet-motion across the line of scrimmage and get end-arounds, or use him as a decoy in play-action to make the defense flow to Miller. He will get bubble screens and laterals or be involved in the triple option out of the slot. He will relish the opportunity to be one-on-one, on an island with a defensive back to make him miss and take it for six.

Long year ahead. Vanderbilt fell back to earth in the first year of Derek Mason’s tenure. Things aren’t looking a whole lot better for Year Two, and James Franklin’s run of nine-win seasons is looking more amazing by the day.

Good idea? Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen thinks athletes should just get five years of eligibility and do away with redshirting.

It doesn’t matter! Whether Rudy was offside depends on who you ask, I suppose, but most people are willing to let it slide in the name of making fun of Notre Dame. Even the official Penn State Twitter account got in on the fun.

Speaking of Notre Dame. A lot of coaches have been hollerin’ of late that the Irish should be forced to join a conference in order to make the Playoff, with the thought being the Irish schedule is too easy or, uhhh, something. Well, turns out those critics have a nice helping of cupcakes on their own schedules.

Don’t care. It doesn’t matter to Dana Holgorsen if the Big 12 expands to give West Virginia some closer competition. They may have to travel a longer distance than they used to, but other teams have to go all the way up to West Virginia too.

Uh oh. It was quite a coup when San Diego State signed four-star wide receiver Desean Holmes, but now he’s gone MIA and the Aztec staff hasn’t spoken with him in approximately three weeks.

Heading west. Former Ohio State safety Jayme Thompson has committed to Indiana. He redshirted during his only year in Columbus.

Crootin’. South Carolina’s recruiting hot streak continued on Wednesday, adding four-star defensive end Jordan Smith. That’s five commitments in less than a week for the Gamecocks. Among other commits elsewhere, three-star defensive back Deon Edwards committed to Arkansas.

HOTTY TODDY. Sports fan Kenny Chesney adds favorite team No. 32.
