Award-winning Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman left the Buckeyes in December to become the head coach at Houston.
Houston head coach says some of his players ‘don’t belong right now in Division I’
Harsh words from Tom Herman.

Even though he's recruiting five-star players to Houston, that's a big talent drop. Still, this seems a bit harsh, even if it is intended to be a motivational tool.
Tom Herman on scrimmage: "Our 2s and 3s receivers stink. They don't belong right now in Division I college football."
— Joseph Duarte (@Joseph_Duarte) August 15, 2015 In his season preview of the Cougars, Bill Connelly called Houston’s receiving corps “unknown.”
[...] big plays might be hard to come by in the passing game, at least if 2014 is any indication. Only one returning wideout (Demarcus Ayers) had more than 20 catches, and he averaged barely 10 yards per. Steven Dunbar did average more than 14 yards per catch as a freshman, but he caught just 20 passes, and in terms of known weapons, that’s pretty much it.
Houston has gone 8-5 in back-to-back seasons, and Herman was brought in to bring an explosive offense back to a program with a history of high-scoring teams. He inherits a talented quarterback fit for his system and continues to recruit well, and early signs suggest a bright future for the program.
