Syracuse QB knocked out of game by this late hit to head

Dungey walked off the field on his own power but will not return to the game.

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Eric Dungey completed a touchdown pass to Dontae Strickland in the second quarter of the Orange's game against Central Michigan, but he paid for it.

Dungey was hit in the head after the throw by CMU’s Mitch Stanitzek, who was immediately ejected and hit with a roughing the passer penalty.

Dungy did walk off the field under his own power but it’s being reported he won’t return to the game. He had thrown for 93 yards on 3 of 6 passing for 98 yards and rushed for 50 more.

The touchdown put Syracuse up 17-3 and they would go on to lead 24-10 at halftime with Austin Wilson filling in for Dungey.
