College football odds 2015: TCU, Alabama next in title odds after Ohio State

The Buckeyes lead the pack of hopefuls at the sportsbooks. This article was provided to SB Nation by OddsShark.com.

Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

The Ohio State Buckeyes finished last season on a 13-0 SU and 9-4 ATS run that included wins over Alabama and Oregon en route to the national championship. The rest of the nation is chasing Ohio State to win the 2016 national championship.

Ohio State is the clear favorite to win the championship, going off at +260 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The Buckeyes have both J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones returning at quarterback with superstar running back Ezekiel Elliot returning in the backfield as well. The Buckeyes also get Michigan State at home this season. Ohio State should be a big favorite in every game it plays this regular season.

Many bettors and fans believed that TCU should have been in the College Football Playoff last year, and the Horned Frogs made that case even stronger with a 42-3 win over Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.

TCU went 12-1 SU and 11-2 ATS last year and returns 10 of 11 starters on offense, including electrifying quarterback Trevone Boykin. At +650 to win the title, TCU is a serious contender.

Alabama is also going off at +650 to win the national championship this season. The Crimson Tide are always in the mix due to Nick Saban and his elite recruiting classes year after year. Lane Kiffin has helped Alabama become more explosive on offense, and the defense should be rock-solid as usual.

This year’s Iron Bowl could have additional meaning as the Auburn Tigers are also considered to be a serious contender this season at +1200 to win the title. Auburn brought in Will Muschamp to fix the defense that was so bad for the Tigers down the stretch last year, and new quarterback Jeremy Johnson enters the season with plenty of hype.

Other potential contenders include USC (+1800), Notre Dame (+1800), Baylor (+1800), Michigan State (+1800) and Oregon (+2200). Baylor finished just outside of the playoff last season and ended the year with an 11-2 SU and 8-5 ATS record.

Longer shots also in the running include Clemson (+2500), Florida State (+2500), Louisiana State (+2500), Georgia (+2500), Oklahoma (+3300) and Texas A&M (+3300).
