“Who’s been eating my porridge?” -- Bob Stoops. A Baylor assistant somehow ended up on the sideline during the Golden Hurricanes’ game at Oklahoma. Off-campus scouting of future opponents is a violation of NCAA bylaws, but there might be a simpler explanation. The assistant in question, Jeff Lebby, is both a longtime friend of Tulsa coach Philip Montgomery and a former OU assistant.
#Sidelinegate: Why was a Baylor assistant at Oklahoma’s game against Tulsa?
Good morning! It’s your college football wake-up call!
Art Briles contacted Stoops to apologize after Stoops said he’d leave the matter to the NCAA, but Oklahoma fans aren’t cool with letting it end there.
Super Macho Man. Sure, go ahead. Punch holes in the myth that is Leonard Fournette. It's only going to make it more ridiculous when he does it to Alabama.
BIELEMA GOT BEEF no seriously he’s huge. After his Red Raiders knocked off Bret Bielema’s Razorbacks Saturday, Kliff Kingsbury threw down on the perpetually beefing Arkansas head coach. On Monday, Bielema responded with surprise, then sarcasm, then dismissiveness.
Of course, this is hardly the first time that Bielema has gotten into a spat with an opposing coach. And, frankly, it would be a lot more fun if it was somehow based on a two-point conversion card.
Who’s No. 1? Bill Connelly says it’s Ole Miss now, based on what we’ve seen so far. Spencer Hall says the Rebels or Notre Dame deserve the top spot. Combining the polls and computers and stuff gives us Ohio State. And Jason Kirk says it will probably end up being Alabama again, if history is any indication.
OH NO, pt. 1. Ole Miss will be without all-American safety Tony Conner for at least four weeks, as he recovers from surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Offensive lineman Justin Bell is questionable for this week, as well.
OH NO, pt. 2. Nebraska linebacker Michael Rose-Ivey, one of the players suspended for the Huskers’ opener against BYU, will miss about a month with a groin injury.
OH NO, pt. 3. Florida will be missing two key players for this week’s game against Tennessee, as linebackers Jeremi Powell and Alex Anzalone will not be available. Powell is still recovering from a foot injury sustained against Kentucky, while Anzalone could miss significant time with a shoulder injury.
OH NO, pt. 4. Texas linebacker Edwin Freeman, a target of ridicule for an apparent fake injury during the Longhorns’ loss to Cal, is actually injured: He’ll miss 6-8 weeks with a shoulder injury.
OH MAYBE INJURIES?, pt. 1. Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan is questionable against Oregon State, a problem for the Cardinal if they were playing ... someone tougher than Oregon State. Hogan was spectacular against USC Saturday.
Nothing to Zaire. If Notre Dame's offense is struggling without injured quarterback Malik Zaire, it's not showing it.
Too Lane; did not read. Alabama fans write an open letter to their offensive coordinator. Seems like an odd target for a team that has given up more than 40 points in three of its last six games, but whatever.
Urban renewal. Ohio State’s offense is broken at the moment, and Urban Meyer is going to fix it.
