On the first night of the college football season, we got a Gatorade bath! For beating a team expected to finish in the middle of the American Athletic Conference!
FIU’s upset of UCF gives us the first GATORADE BATH of the college football season
FIU was not supposed to beat UCF. Instead, they got the season off to a COACH-DOUSING start.

FIU was a 17-point underdog against Central Florida. The Golden Panthers went 4-8 last year, with wins against an FCS team and a team that no longer exists (and a loss to Bethune-Cookman.) They were playing UCF, who tied for an AAC championship last year.
But FIU held strong. They outthrew UCF, with Alex McGough passing for 260 yards and a TD. They outrushed UCF, outgaining them, 130-46. They held the Knights to 14 points.
The game came down to the last minute, when freshman kicker Matthew Wright attempted his first career FG to give UCF a win. And the Golden Panthers blocked it:
And FIU coach Ron Turner got a Gatorade bath!
They’re pumped:
That just happened !!!
— FIU Football (@FIUFootball) September 4, 2015 FIU is undefeated. FIU is tied for the best record in the country. FIU doesn't play Florida or Florida State or South Florida or Miami, because Florida and Florida State and South Florida and Miami are scared as hell and know they don't wanna get embarrassed in their home state. It's Week 1, and hope springs eternal.
