QB Michael Brewer will not return after suffering a left shoulder injury
— VT Football (@VT_Football) September 8, 2015 ESPN has since reported that Brewer suffered a broken left collarbone, and is expected to miss 4-5 weeks.
Brewer was hit by defensive tackle Adolphus Washington while attempting a throw on third and 4 just three minutes into the second half. He grabbed his left shoulder and was writing in pain on the turf. He was immediately taken to the locker room. Redshirt junior Brenden Motley, who had attempted just three passes for Viriginia Tech before tonight, has replaced Brewer.
Brewer has developed a reputation as a tough, durable quarterback who can play through pain. Last season, he played through a shoulder injury against Virginia.
Brewer had his shoulder pop in and out last year against Virginia and stayed in the game. Must be serious if he's out. Dude can take pain.
— Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) September 8, 2015 Brewer had been hit hard in the first half, and was seen telling a teammate, “It’s going to take a lot more than that to knock me out of this game.”
Virginia Tech trails Ohio State, 21-17.
