Oklahoma completes trade of Trevor Knight to Texas A&M for Kyler Murray, pretty much

Good morning! This is your morning newsletter of college football stuff and a newsletter to be named later.

League transactions wire: In exchange, kind of, for former Texas A&M five-star quarterback Kyler Murray, who announced on Christmas Eve that he’d be transferring to Oklahoma, the Aggies will receive former Sugar Bowl-winning quarterback Trevor Knight from the Sooners. No draft picks or cash considerations were reported to have been included by either general manager, so to speak.

Knight will be eligible to start for A&M as a redshirt senior in 2016, giving him one more chance to reach the heights of 2013. Injury and some poor play combined to open the job for Baker Mayfield, who led OU to a Playoff spot. The Aggies also have to hire an offensive coordinator.

But we’re talking about the QB who once got propositioned on air by Katy Perry; this young man can achieve anything. And he’s 1-0 against Bama.

You spent $800 on fake tickets, then $500 on real ones to walk into a game in which your significant other’s team is already down by 35 points. The things we do for love. More things here, in the story of Iowa’s Rose Bowl.

BAMA-CLEMSON STATS DUMP. Bill Connelly backs the truck up and unloads all the Championship numbers you could ever stomach, including each team’s biggest advantages.

Solving the Playoff’s New Year’s Eve problem is extremely complicated. It involves moving everything over by one day.

Be advised Nick Saban, Kevin Sumlin, and Jim Mora are appearing in general NFL rumors.

Two more potential top-10 picks leave Ole Miss; the latest mock draft has tackle Laremy Tunsil going No. 1 and receiver Laquon Treadwell at No. 15. However, remember that Tunsil can play receiver and Treadwell can play QB. Added value.

The SEC was the best conference this year and broke a bowl record. It would’ve been the best even if it had lost most of its bowls, though. Let’s not make such a big thing of bowls.

Like Ohio State last year, Bama gets more practice time than its Championship opponent, thanks to its semesters and the NCAA’s rules.

Coach of team that would’ve been in eight-team Playoff wants an eight-team Playoff, you say?

One thing about Clemson that the Tide have to prepare for: offensive versatility. Shakin’ the Southland explains to Roll Bama Roll.

Oregon’s defensive coordinator dropped to linebackers coach after Alamo Bowl debacle, and yeah, you had to see that coming.

Iowa, Big Ten West favorites. Thorpe Award winner Desmond King is coming back, per his mother.

GAINESVILLE’S GETTING AN APPLEBY! Purdue quarterback Austin joins the Gators’ QB pile.

Big 12 expansion rumors involve U ... Conn? They, uh, do.

So you think you know which companies with ridiculous names have and haven’t sponsored bowl games? Test your knowledge.
