This stat shows how much trouble Charlie Strong’s in at Texas

Let’s put the record in visual form.

Well, Charlie Strong’s made history at Texas, and it’s not the good kind.

The Longhorns lost to Kansas State on the road, 24-21, giving Wildcats coach Bill Snyder a 7-4 career mark against Texas.

This week, our friends at Burnt Orange Nation weren’t exactly bullish on Texas’ prospects in this game, but there was an easy path to victory.

History doesn’t provide much optimism for the Texas contingent as the ‘Horns travel to Manhattan this weekend, but the improvement of the defense last week and an extremely poor Kansas State passing game do provide cause to believe in a rare road victory for head coach Charlie Strong.

Making opponents one dimensional on offense is a constant talking point for Strong and that shouldn’t be difficult against the Wildcats.

Texas did limit the Wildcats through the air (171 yards), but the problem comes in the fact that K-State dominated on the ground, rushing for 234 yards, the second-most Texas has given up all season.

It’s not getting better at Texas, and if Strong gets canned, the numbers won’t be the only thing that foreshadowed his demise.

Here’s BON after the game:

Sure, Strong could lead Texas to five straight victories to conclude the regular season, earn a bowl big and save his job with the first postseason victory at Texas since his arrival. But let’s be realistic, that isn’t happening.

Next up for Texas are an undefeated, No. 9-ranked Baylor team in Austin, Texas Tech and its explosive aerial attack in Lubbock, and then back home to host an undefeated, No. 12-ranked West Virginia squad that’s surging as of late.

How does 3-7 sound?

It’s beginning to look like Strong’s third season on the 40 Acres — one that was always going to determine his future at Texas — could quite possibly go down as his worst.

And here’s his athletic director:

One person in his corner: Snyder.
