Houston has Louisville on upset alert, thanks in part to this wild deflection TD

Whatever works, right?

No. 5 Louisville is taking on Houston on the road on Thursday night, and if the Cardinals want to have a shot at the College Football Playoff, they’ve got a lot of work to do. The Cards are trailing 24-0 in the second quarter.

The Cougar touchdown that put Houston up 17-0 came on a wild play, in which quarterback Greg Ward Jr.’s pass was tipped but then caught by a Houston receiver, who waltzed into the end zone.

Louisville’s offense has struggled mightily early on in the game. On the first play of the night, the Cardinals fumbled the opening kick, which set up a Houston touchdown to take an early lead. To put it further in perspective, here’s a look at Louisville’s drive chart so far.

A field goal toward the end of the first quarter gave the Cougars a 10-0 lead. If Louisville wants to impress the Playoff committee, it has to do much better on offense -- and defense, quite honestly.
