Notre Dame is 4-7

I’m sorry, just needed to make sure you were all aware of Notre Dame’s record, which is 4-7. The Irish fell to Virginia Tech 34-31 at home on Saturday. The Hokies are a much better team (they’re 8-3) and they showed it, although it took a while for VT to get going.
The Fighting Irish almost weren’t 4-7. There was a high probability that they could have been 5-6. Notre Dame took a 17-0 lead in this game, and pushed it to 24-7 a little bit later.
They looked to be on cruise control, but nothing can be taken for granted with a 4-7 team. In the second half, Bud Foster’s Virginia Tech defense showed its teeth while limiting the Irish to only seven points in the second stanza.
It’s not the first time Notre Dame has blown a lead, and that inability to keep an advantage is a large reason why Brian Kelly’s bunch are now 4-7.
It’s been a tough year for Notre Dame (as evidenced by the 4-7 record), but early this season I did list plenty of teams who could give ND some pointers. We don’t know what will happen after this, but Notre Dame fans have every reason to be upset with Kelly because this team is 4-7.
Notre Dame should not be 4-7, but here they are, with one game against USC left in a disappointing 4-7 season. Hopefully they don’t go 4-8.
