All they typically do is lose, except on Saturday, when they dispatched Texas in overtime, 24-21, and probably ended Charlie Strong’s run as the Horns’ head coach. And that ended a lot of sad streaks, including the Longhorns’ streak of beating Kansas dating all the way back to 1938.

Texas might not lose again to Kansas for another few dozen years, because Kansas doesn’t beat practically anybody. The Jayhawks have been on a remarkable stretch of futility, and Texas has now allowed them a momentary respite. The Horns are 5-6.
Kansas’ last win against an FBS team was Nov. 8, 2014, against Iowa State. Last year brought an 0-12 record, and the only win this year was a season opener against horrific FCS team Rhode Island, which featured this feeble field-storming:
Strong’s postgame press conference was a painful, painful thing.
Losing to Kansas can’t happen, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t sad as hell.
