Known Texas Longhorns fan, and notable Lincoln vehicle driver, Matthew McConaughey recently was stopped by Fox 7 News in Austin, Texas to discuss the Charlie Strong situation. Texas has apparently decided to fire Strong after three seasons, but the school actually hasn’t made anything official yet because well, this is what Texas does when firing a coach. McConaughey was asked about the situation and what he thought of Strong as a head coach on Monday evening.

The actor also offered a prediction for the TCU game.

“For his entire three years here, he’s had one goal in mind: What’s best for these young men. That’s been his goal. And that’s the message that’s we’ll take forward, that’s the message that the whole university, and all our fans, and all the kids are going to take forward is that no doubt, for three years, he’s been about what’s best for these young men, and who they are in the rest of their life. That’s gonna be the legacy of Charlie Strong. And that’s a great thing — and that’s why we’re gonna go out and whoop TCU’s ass on Friday.”
Hands down the best part of all of this is when the reporter greets him and says “Sorry to be a creeper” and instead of McConaughey dismissing this, he says “You are creeping, aren’t you!”
Strong appears to be a dead man walking, even though the head coach hasn’t handled it that way. He held an oddly uplifting press conference last week ahead of the TCU game, and said he and his staff deserves to come back to Texas in 2017.
Aside from waiting on Strong’s firing, we’ll have to wait see if McConaughey’s prediction for a TCU ass-whoopin’ will come true on Friday night.
