Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher has a new contract extension through at least 2024 and possibly 2026, after a 2016 that included an Orange Bowl bid on the field and interest from LSU off of it.

That is a long-ass contract and one that could surpass even the god of long-ass contracts himself, Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz, who secured an extension through 2025 after a Rose Bowl appearance last season and a 1-0 start to an 8-4 in 2016. Ferentz’s deal made absolutely no sense at the time, but now I’m furious that it’s in danger of no longer being the longest on the books.
Fisher has won a national title, could finish in the 2016 top 10, could have a top-10 recruiting class in the works, and should enter 2017 as an ACC favorite, along with Louisville.
