Perhaps you’ve heard of alums suiting up to rep opposing quarterbacks on scout teams at Alabama and Clemson? Well Ohio State turned that up a notch on Monday.
Ohio State coaches put on full pads to challenge players in 1-on-1 tackling drill
You’re going to want to see this.

Former Florida linebacker Ryan Stamper and others in the Buckeye personnel department turned back the clock during Ohio State’s bowl practice to go heads-up with different players on the Buckeyes roster. The drill was a close to the goal line man-on-man showdown, and it was awesome.
It’s been a while since a lot of these guys put on the pads, like they say in the video’s intro. Assistant strength coach Brady Collins said it’d been “eight years” since he strapped on the pads at Otterbein College. At least Stamper briefly moonlighted in the NFL after playing for Urban Meyer’s national title teams in Gainesville.
Former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones weighed in and he wasn’t impressed, but I’d pay him and Stamper go at it.
This is almost as cool as the time P.J. Fleck came to practice in full gear to strap it up against his team.
I’ll give Fleck the nod here because he’s much older than the Ohio State guys.
