The Week 5 slate of college football games didn’t feature many surprises and saw most of the teams at the top of the rankings hold serve with comfortable victories. The most significant game of the week was Washington State’s 30-27 victory over USC.
Week 6’s new top 25 rankings: Dawgs are now in the human top 5s, but which one?
Washington and Georgia are in each human poll respectively as No. 5. Everything else is pretty static at the top.

In the only other games featuring pairs of ranked teams, Auburn smashed Mississippi State and Clemson cruised through a road game against Virginia Tech in the national spotlight.
The other teams near the top of the rankings all won handily. No. 1 Alabama destroyed Ole Miss in a 66-3 win, and Penn State, Georgia, Ohio State, and Washington all won by at least 30 on Saturday.
LSU snuck in at the bottom of the rankings a week ago at No. 25, but likely won’t make another appearance any time soon after losing 24-21 to Troy.
There won’t be Playoff rankings for another month. Until then, we’re waiting on all of these, then filling them out in here as they arrive:

Every poll and rating smashed into one continually updating ranking, basically. Early in the season, it still includes some preseason projections. Usually starts updating Sunday morning.

- USC (This is a collection that includes computer rankings, and computers often factor preseason rankings into their early ratings, to help stabilize things. That’s one reason USC ranks ahead of Washington State in this group, for example. That won’t be the case in the polls, once those come out, and might not be the case once Massey adds more ratings throughout Sunday.)
