My God, this is one hell of a punt. In the first quarter of Marshall’s game against Old Dominion on Saturday, Herd punter Kaare Vedvik had the seventh-longest punt in FBS history with a booming 92-yarder.

It’s the seventh-longest in the FBS, too!
It wasn’t the longest punt in FBS history, but it marked the longest punt since Ray Guy, whose award is given to the nation’s best punter every year, who had a 93-yarder in 1972 against Ole Miss.
Vedvik is a redshirt senior who was actually recruited to be a kicker at Marshall. According to his Marshall bio, his recruiting profile got national attention after he made a 70-yard field goal at a Kohl’s Kicking Camp in Texas. He also had a 57-yarder at the Texas Showcase Camp, as well. During his redshirt freshman season in 2014 he was the primary kickoff man until he was replaced midseason, and in 2015, he didn’t play since he was learning to punt. Fun fact: He was born in Norway!
With the 92-yarder on Saturday, he’s now averaging 45 yards per punt. Not too shabby!
