Flushed from the pocket on Saturday against Boston College, Virginia quarterback Kurt Benkert found an open man on the sideline and deftly flicked him the ball.
Did Virginia’s QB just throw an INT while trying to shovel the ball out of bounds?
There’s not much to do other than gawk and wonder.

The problem, here, is that the open man was on the other team.
Benkert a) did not have any actual UVA receivers in the area and b) was out of the pocket and c) could’ve easily thrown the ball into the 12th row for no penalty, but d) did not do that, and e) instead delivered it directly into the waiting arms of Boston College DB Will Harris, who f) was able to call off his teammates and basically call for a fair catch before e) catching the ball in bounds to secure the most unnecessary turnover of the year.
Maybe Benkert was trying to get it out of bounds? I don’t know. It didn’t work.
Virginia entered the weekend an astonishing 5-1, and Boston College was coming off a stunning upset at Louisville last week. B.C. led 24-0 in the second quarter.
