This Arkansas defender laid down as the ball was snapped, then popped up during the play

Not too sure why he did this.

Early in the first quarter of the Auburn Tigers’ game against the Arkansas Razorbacks, one of Arkansas’ defenders laid down on the field to signal an injury right as the ball was snapped. During the play, though, the player got up and ran over towards the end zone.

While there are a lot of people who may think the defender could have been faking an injury when he went to the ground, we can’t call it that, since we don’t know for sure what happened.

These two teams have had injury debates before, though.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn previously brought something up about allegedly fake injuries during SEC Media Days:

Then, during the Arkansas-Auburn game in 2013, one of Auburn’s defenders went down here:

“Yeah, I didn’t see it. We didn’t [fake injuries], though. We weren’t doing that,” Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema said of the play. “But you’d have to ask them.”

This might be talked about after the game by both coaches, so we’ll have to wait and see what they have to say. At the start of the second quarter, Auburn leads Arkansas 10-3 in Fayetteville.
