With most of the 2017 college football season in the books and Heisman ballots going out in just under a month, the list of contenders is whittling down. Barring an incredible late surge, your winner is likely on the following list, as are most of the other eventual finalists.
Tracking Week 9’s Heisman Watch leaders: J.T. Barrett astounds in comeback W over Penn State
One oddsmaker gives nine players current odds, and two of the leaders meet in the game of the week.

1. Saquon Barkley, Penn State RB 4/11
Held in check in a loss to Ohio State, other than running back the opening kickoff.
Barkley after this week: Miiight still be the leader, but nowhere near as commanding. ↓
2. Bryce Love, Stanford RB 3/1
Love’s likely to slip after injury kept him out of Week 9’s Thursday night game at Oregon State, which would’ve been a rare chance to impress voters without a whole lot of other football on TV at the time.

3. Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma QB 12/1
A 281-yard, four-touchdown, one-INT day against a suspect Texas Tech defense is a nice day.

4. J.T. Barrett, Ohio State QB 14/1
Barrett was obliterating bad teams since a rough start. Beating Penn State in the game of the week, with the winning TD and an incredible line (423 total yards and four touchdowns) against a good Penn State defense, makes him a totally legit candidate.

Bama’s off.

5. (tie) Josh Adams, Notre Dame RB 20/1
Adams ran for 202 yards and a touchdown against a talented front. Do voters know NC State’s tough, though?

7. (tie) Lamar Jackson, Louisville QB 33/1
Entered as the nation’s leader in total offense, something he couldn’t claim in his Heisman-winning season. But a loss to Wake Forest probably rules out a repeat win, with this many impressive candidates.

7. (tie) Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State QB 33/1
A shootout win for OSU at West Virginia, but mostly powered by the ground game. Rudolph had 216 for three TDs and a pick.

7. (tie) Will Grier, West Virginia QB 33/1
Among Power 5 QBs, Grier was behind only Mayfield, Rudolph, and Barrett in passer rating and Jackson, Rudolph, and UCLA’s Josh Rosen in total offense. But Rudolph won by 11 in Morgantown.
