During TCU’s game at Iowa State on Saturday, a Cyclones defender fell to the ground between plays in a way that, by what might be total coincidence, prevented TCU from getting a free offside penalty called on Iowa State.
Iowa State defender crumbles to the ground JUST IN TIME to avoid offside penalty and prevent TCU free play
I’m not accusing anyone of anything, but here’s this.

As TCU prepared to run a play, Iowa State defensive back Evrett Edwards crumbled to the ground, forcing the officials to pause the game medical personnel to tend to him.
Edwards was running off the field and positioned behind the line of scrimmage as the Horned Frogs prepared to snap the ball. He gave a quick look back at the middle of the field and then just hit the deck. The game paused while he was treated.
Had TCU snapped the ball before Edwards got off the field, it would’ve been the easiest offside call in the world. The Horned Frogs would’ve had a free play, and Edwards would’ve felt shame for taking such a needless penalty.
He appeared to think that his team had 12 defenders on the field, which teams are surely not allowed. But someone got that count wrong. Everett was one of 11 guys on the field, and he didn’t need to go anywhere.
Iowa State led 14-7 in the third quarter.
