A few weeks later than planned after Hurricane Irma forced a postponement, the rivalry between the Florida State Seminoles and the Miami Hurricanes will continue for the 62nd time in history Saturday at Doak Stadium in Tallahassee, and FSU will be trying to extend its historic domination over its intrastate foe. Kickoff for this ACC game is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN (live stream).

The Hurricanes lead this rivalry 31-30; however, the Seminoles have been victorious for the last seven years. Miami’s new head coach, Mark Richt, will try to prevent his team from a historic eighth loss in a row. While many believe this is a new and improved Miami team, this rivalry contains too much history and emotion to be able to easily determine who will walk away victorious.

Time, TV channel, and streaming info

  • Time: 3:30 p.m. ET
  • Location: Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, Fla.

  • Odds: The Hurricanes are favored by three.

University of Miami vs. Florida State University news

“Since 2012, Miami outscored FSU 70-67 in the 1st half. In those five games, FSU outscored Miami 86-33 in the 2nd half. Miami scored 10 or more points in all five 1st halves, but was held under 7 points in three of the five 2nd halves.”

University of Miami’s Athletic Director, Blake James, confirms the possibility of Hurricane Nate would have no effect on Saturday’s rivalry showdown. After the first rescheduling of this matchup, many believed the weather conditions headed towards Tallahassee on Saturday would affect this Saturday’s game as well. However, James sent out a tweet promising fans a game at 3:30.

“FSU’s QB James Blackman certainly looked like a freshman against Wake Forest last week. Jimbo didn’t have confidence in the passing game and relied heavily on screens on passing downs. Expect Miami’s defense to crowd the line of scrimmage and force Blackman to beat the Canes with his arm.

Will the Hurricanes have an undesirable historic game Saturday?

Exactly 44 years have passed since Miami has recorded seven straight losses against Florida State. Miami’s current losing streak (seven straight) ties the one that lasted through 1973 as the two longest losing streaks in against FSU in program history.

This year might be their best chance in a long time to defeat the Seminoles. While FSU is rebuilding its offense around freshman QB James Blackman, who struggled against Wake Forest recently, the Hurricanes are continuing to polish their defense behind a very talented front seven. Blackman should expect quite a lot of pressure from the Hurricanes’ defense.

Miami vs. Florida State prediction

The Miami Hurricanes are going to show up on Saturday and walk away victorious. This year, they are the more complete team. Their defense has the ability to frustrate the Seminoles’ offense, and the Hurricanes’ offense knows how to step up. If all goes as planned, the Hurricanes should take this one.
