Just a week after falling to the other college program in the state, the Stanford Cardinal will now play host to the No. 9 Washington Huskies this Friday at 10:30 p.m. ET on FS1 (live stream).

Stanford has decided to stick with redshirt freshman QB, K.J. Costello, despite his struggles last week against Washington State. Costello completed only nine of 20 passes for 105 yards, no scores and one interception — the team was competing in snowy conditions, but it still wasn’t an ideal first showing for Costello.

One advantage Stanford does have over Washington is its use of the pro-style West Coast offense, utilizing four fullbacks, something rarely seen in the current college landscape. The Huskies’ head coach, Chris Peterson, said he spent extra time working with his defense this week to make sure they knew exactly what a fullback does and how to contain them.

Washington vs. Stanford news:

I mean, it was sheer pandemonium in the stadium for at least 3 or 4 minutes after Pettis broke the record. That was the loudest Husky stadium has been since the Stanford game last year, and it was great.

Not too long ago, a fan could walk out of the room on 4th and 1, and expect Stanford to still have the ball when they came back. That’s not the case anymore, and even David Shaw knows it.

The offense turned in big plays through the air and on the ground throughout the night, and only a missed field goal and late “goal line stand” from Oregon’s defense kept the final margin from creeping into the 40s for a second consecutive year.

Even despite an injured Bryce Love playing on a slippery field, Love was still able to put up an impressive 52-yard touchdown and Bobby Okereke made a pick-six. Love also tied a single-season FBS record with his tenth 50-yard run of the season.

Another crazy edition of Pac-12 After Dark

Friday night Pac-12 games have been exciting this season, and this Week 11 matchup should be no different. With Stanford still in a fight for conference honors and Washington looking for a trip to the CFP, both teams have plenty of motivation heading into the contest.

With an inexperienced quarterback leading the Cardinal and an aggressive QB in charge for the Huskies, there is potential for a shoot-out type matchup that results in a few highlight-worthy pick-sixes. (I mean, those are the most exciting plays in football.)

Washington vs. Stanford prediction:

The Huskies are still vying for a spot in the College Football Playoff, and they need a big win over Stanford to help solidify their case. Washington wins the game after a late-game recurrence to keep its postseason dreams alive.
