In 2017, TCU and Texas Tech revived their rivalry trophy that was created in the 1960s. The trophy is called the Saddle Trophy, and it was awarded for 10 games before it went away in 1971. Here’s what this bad boy looks like:

TCU
With the trophy’s renewal, 2017’s game was called the Battle for the Saddle Trophy. TCU explained the trophy replica:
The Saddle Trophy sits on a stand and includes the logos for TCU and Texas Tech. Currently, scores for 59 years of the rivalry are represented on the Saddle Trophy stand with adornment of the trophy plates to equal 100 years. It will travel in a case to Lubbock and be presented to the winning team after the game.
TCU
This trophy was used back when these two teams played in Southwest Conference, which dissolved in 1990. The rivalry was the dubbed the West Texas Championship, and the two teams split the 10 games of the trophy series. The rivalry’s name was coined from Lubbock’s geography and Fort Worth’s motto, “Where the West begins.”
Tech leads the overall series between the two teams, 31-26-3, but in 2017, the Frogs were the first time in decades to take home the saddle. Yeehaw!
