Nick Saban gave a wonderfully Nick Saban breakdown of the fashion patterns of the youths these days, apparently unprompted during his Mercer-week press conference.
Nick Saban doesn’t understand why the kids wear jeans the way they do these days
Back in his day, jeans were jeans.

It’s quite familiar if you’ve ever listened to your parents talk about style. Saban is mighty old school, and that works at a program that has as basic a uniform combination as the sport can possibly produce.
Our sister site, Racked.com, published its own missive on jean crimes recently. In the process, sounding quite a bit like the Alabama head coach. But in a much younger way.
[T]hese Boohoo jeans remind me of that one time when I was 14 and thought I had the mental, physical, emotional, and creative capability to cut my Gap jeans into jorts. Halfway through, I realized that hahahahhaha no. I didn’t.
Jeans have morphed from work-wear into full-blown fashion phenomenon taken apart, reconstructed and dyed in all kinds of colors. Sometimes, the imagination of designers can go too far.
It remains to be seen if trousers will become rat poison for the Alabama program.
