The TCU Horned Frogs still have a shot at the College Football Playoff, but they absolutely need to beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders this week. They will play at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, with Fox Sports 1 carrying the television broadcast (live streaming online via Fox Sports GO).

Can TCU rebound from a loss to Oklahoma? We have all you need to know for their game against Texas Tech.

If TCU wins out, the Horned Frogs have a shot at taking on Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship, and if they manage to win that game, they would have a solid argument for the College Football Playoff. They are certainly favored to take down Texas Tech, though they have to be hurting after they were soundly beaten by Oklahoma their last time out.
TCU has also lost the past two road games, beating Texas in between losses to Oklahoma and Iowa State, two ranked teams. TCU’s best win yet was the 44-31 victory over Oklahoma State, but that was several games ago.
Texas Tech is playing for its bowl life at this point. The Red Raiders need a win in the last two games to have a hope at a bowl game, but the odds aren’t exactly in their favor. They are coming off a 38-24 win over Baylor, but their best chance at winning again will likely come next week against Texas.

TCU vs. Texas Tech:
- A crushing blow for TCU came when the team found out starting running back Darius Anderson is out for the season, including any and all possible bowl games.
- Unfortunately for the Horned Frogs, they have managed to fall to No. 12 overall in the College Football Playoff Poll, as well as the AP and Coaches Polls.
- In addition to the injury to Anderson, both quarterback Kenny Hill and defender Travin Howard are out for Saturday’s game.
- The top matchup will be the TCU defensive line against the Texas Tech offensive line, at least according to the folks at Frogs ‘O’ War:
TCU’s defensive line vs. Texas Tech’s offensive line. The Red Raiders have been a great offense this year when Nic Shimonek has time to throw the ball. However, he’s shown that he’s inconsistent when pressured, and he doesn’t have the mobility/escapability of Pat Mahomes (most people don’t). Texas Tech has allowed opponents to sack the quarterback 20 times this season, and you can expect the Frogs’ D line to come out hungry after recording just one sack, and very little pressure overall, against Oklahoma.
- Dakota Allen will be the Texas Tech player to watch on Saturday. He is well on his way to becoming an All-American and can certainly cause havoc to the TCU offense in the game.
TCU vs. Texas Tech prediction:
The TCU defense didn’t look like it against Oklahoma, but it’s on another level compared to a team like Texas Tech. Even with their own expected struggles on offense, the Horned Frogs should be more than enough to keep up with Texas Tech. TCU wins this game.
