Tennessee announced Wednesday evening that wide receiver Jauan Jennings would be dismissed from the program.
Why would Brady Hoke dismiss a player from a team he may not be coaching next year?
It may not have been completely up to the interim Vols head coach.

This comes off the heels of a since-deleted Instagram post by Jennings.
In his video, Jennings used the words “lying,” “fake” and “snake” to describe the coaches. He said the “coaching staff (is) holding us back” and asked that Tennessee officials “bring us a coaching staff that’s honest.”
Jennings has been out for the season with an injury, and is clearly frustrated with a tough season he hasn’t been able to be a part of. The Instagram post is not a good look, but kicking Jennings off the team is a curious step for Hoke given that he’s an interim coach who very well might not be with the program after the season ends and Tennessee finally finds a head coach. Why not leave this decision up to the next staff?
But the fact that Hoke consulted with AD John Currie makes it seem like the edict may have come from on high, and wasn’t Hoke’s decision alone. Either way, this is odd. But it seems like something being strange is the only thing normal about Tennessee’s program these days.
