Georgia scored a TD late in the second quarter against Auburn ...
Pick play penalty robs Georgia of 4 points against Auburn in SEC Championship Game
Dawgs fans aren’t gonna like this.

... except it didn’t. The refs ruled that this was offensive pass interference, erasing the touchdown.
The rub here — pun intended — is this: In the national championship game, Clemson won the title with a pick play for a TD.
At the time, that wasn’t called a penalty, and the Tigers obviously won. But the reason why applies here.
This time in the SEC title game, the refs did flag the offensive team, but you can see the outside Auburn cornerback jam pushes the inside Georgia receiver into the inside Auburn cornerback. It turned a TD into a very long goal-to-go situation, and the Dawgs weren’t able to do anything but kick a field goal after a run play on third down that didn’t reach the end zone.
Points will be at a premium in this game because both defenses looked stout throughout the first half. The game went to the intermission with Georgia leading, 10-7.
The Dawgs might just need every single point they can eke out of this contest, and the guys in the stripes cost them four big ones here.
