This is a no good, very bad punt in the Birmingham Bowl.
Texas Tech’s punt was so bad, USF started a drive basically in the red zone because of it
At least there wasn’t a return.

I’ve seen some bad punts in my day, but this one’s certainly up there. It created the hilarious scenario of USF starting a drive nearly in the red zone already.
You don’t really see a drive start like this unless it comes after a special teams play or a turnover return. But this is a natural drive start on the Texas Tech 21-yard line. This punt was slightly worse than the punt by Virginia Tech a few years ago that ended up having an opponent start a drive at the 24-yard line.
This Birmingham Bowl hasn’t been the aesthetically pleasing matchup we thought it would be when the bowl slate was released. Neither offense can really get going, and Texas Tech has two bad turnovers. At least the Bulls scored off of this unbelievably advantageous field positioning to send the game into halftime tied at 10.
