LOOK AT THIS F***ING MILITARY BOWL PUNT

How beautiful is this?

In the first quarter of Thursday’s Military Bowl against Navy, Virginia punter Lester Coleman used his right foot to paint a special teams masterpiece:

ESPN

That punt is 45 yards in your scoresheet but No. 1, I hope, in your heart.

Coleman received a long snap at his own 40-yard line, stepped forward a few yards, and uncorked a picturesque punt from about his own 43.5. The kick was a line drive, and Coleman deftly dropped it in at the Navy 4-yard line. Virginia’s punt coverage unit did a marvelous job getting into position, and gunner Joey Blount downed it inside Navy’s 1.

Sometimes everything just comes together. Coleman hit the pigskin with exactly the right force, and the ball’s flight path was such that it fell shy of the end zone and didn’t immediately skip into it. Two gunners were in position to snatch the ball away from the abyss that is the end zone, and in the end, Blount did.

Navy had to punt a short while later, and Virginia got the ball back just across midfield. It’s good to see special teams excellence get rewarded.
