Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield is sick in the run-up to the College Football Playoff. After missing a team event on Wednesday at Disneyland, Mayfield didn’t turn up at OU’s media availability on Friday and was late Saturday, all ahead of the Sooners’ Rose Bowl semifinal against Georgia on Monday.
Baker Mayfield’s still sick, 2 days before the Playoff kicks off
He’s missed some game-week events, but he says he’ll be out there.

From Saturday:
And the day prior:
When Oklahoma players went to nearby Disneyland on Wednesday, Mayfield didn’t go with them. But he’s been practicing, per Oklahoma’s word and a couple of images to come out of the practices. And coach Lincoln Riley says he’ll give it a go on Monday.
“He’ll be ready to play,” Riley said in a Wednesday media availability while the non-Mayfield Sooners were at Disney. And on Friday:
Hopefully Mayfield is 100 percent by New Year’s Day. This year’s runaway Heisman winner has arguably had the best statistical season by a QB ever. He’s fun to watch, and he’s the key to Oklahoma’s chances against a devastating UGA defense. If Mayfield isn’t firing on all cylinders, everyone who likes college football will lose something.
Georgia has a bunch of things to figure out in order to do what nobody has done all year: slow down Mayfield. The Dawgs need to settle on the right personnel packages, the right coverages, and the right matchups to limit Mayfield’s weapons. Their task would be a lot easier if Mayfield weren’t fully himself.
There’s still a couple days for Mayfield to feel better. Here’s to that.
