When you see Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) weakside DE prospect Andrew Chatfield on tape, you can see a versatile edge rusher.
3-star DE Andrew Chatfield says LSU, Alabama recruiting him hard
He says he can play either stand-up LB or DE in college.

He’s a three-star prospect as the No. 57 player in the state of Florida, and the No. 18 player at his listed position of weakside defensive end. He sees himself as good enough to be a hand in the dirt defensive end or a stand-up LB though.
“I can actually play both, I’m good at getting the quarterback I’m good at running out, having fun running around the field,” Chatfield told reporters at an Under Armour recruiting camp in Miami. “That’s what I’m made for.”
Chatfield says he measured in at 6’3, 220 pounds, and he’s got some usual mainstays Florida State, Alabama, Ohio State and LSU recruiting him. Syracuse and Wisconsin are also in the mix. He plans to take a visit to Baton Rouge at the end of March as well.
He’s currently working on getting better at dropping back in pass coverage, and he feels like the strength of his game is rushing the passer.
Chatfield also spoke about Miami’s gains in recruiting, and what the Canes are doing differently. It’s about appealing to the homegrown roots of players like Chatfield that the program built its reputation on.
“You know everybody wants to bring their hometown up and show their hometown who they really are and show what they can really do. But I think with Miami they’re just trying to come back and be a big team. That’s really it. Try to compete with Bama and Florida and all them big schools.”
