QB Emory Jones ‘110 percent’ committed to Ohio State but visiting Southern powers

Alabama, Florida, and Florida State also have his interest.

Emory Jones, the No. 2 dual-threat QB in the country, per the 247Sport Composite and a four-star talent, has been committed to Ohio State since last summer. The Franklin, Ga. prospect has held steady to his pledge the whole way through. But like any savvy recruit, he’s keeping his options at least a little bit open.

“I’m 100 percent committed to Ohio State. It’d be a lot to change, that but I just think for myself it’d be better for me to take some more visits to make sure I pick the right place,” he said.

Jones later doubled down and said that he assures the Buckeyes staff that he’s “110 percent committed,” although they’re not huge fans of him taking other visits. He figures it’s better to be forthright with OSU coaches about what visits he is and isn’t taking.

This summer, he’ll head to Florida, Florida State, and Alabama to take visits. Jones likes what both Sunshine State rivals do, particularly FSU, with their signal callers to get them ready for the next level.

“Jimbo Fisher, I love what he does with the program,” Jones said. “I love how he has developed his quarterbacks for the next level. I think he does some real nice things offensively that can help develop me for the next level.”

When it comes to Alabama, he’s had conversations with new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

“Yeah I talked to him some and the stuff he’s bringing from the NFL he’s gonna use some things to help the offense just he says he’s gonna combine a lot of stuff together and use that,” Jones said.

Jones wants to play early, and it’s worth noting that the Buckeyes have a pretty crowded QB room with four-star signal callers signed in the last three recruiting classes.

He wants to enroll early as well. Wherever he ends up attending (and it is still overwhelmingly likely that the destination will be Ohio State), the school will get a talented player to potentially run the show.
