The Houston Texans nabbed Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson with the 12th overall pick in the NFL draft, trading up to get him on Thursday. A few months ago, Watson engineered a last-minute drive to beat Alabama for college football’s national title. Now he’s moving to the next level, and the guy he beat’s excited.
Bama QB Jalen Hurts is pumped to have Deshaun Watson on his favorite NFL team
“Nothing but respect.”

Here’s Bama QB Jalen Hurts reacting to the Watson pick:
Hurts is from Channelview, Texas, just beyond the beltway that surrounds Houston. He was a true freshman this year and got the Tide all the way to the title game. He’s also apparently a serious Texans fan, and he’s glad Watson’s now on his side.
The title game between Watson and Hurts was a thriller. Hurts did not have a great game, but he led his own late fourth-quarter touchdown drive that looked like it’d be the winner. It would’ve been, too, if Watson didn’t one-up him at the buzzer.
There’s lots of evidence that Hurts is a cool guy. (Here’s a great Bleacher Report feature on him, if you’re interested.) It’s not surprising that he’s got a competitor’s respect for the veteran who beat him in the big game, but it’s good to see anyway.
