Deshaun Watson’s 1st purchase as a professional was a car for his mom’s birthday

As a dutiful son, the first thing most draftees do is take care of their moms. Deshaun Watson did so by buying his mother, Deann, a new car.

The car’s MSRP is around $50,000, but with all the bells and whistles availables Watson could have dropped upwards of $75,000 if he really wanted to treat his mom on her special day.

SB Nation spoke to Watson on Thursday before the draft, and he said because of his mother’s special day, a car would be the first thing he purchased.

“My mom’s birthday is Saturday so after I make sure that she’s set I’m not really sure,” he said. ... “We might wait on [buying her a] house. But buy her a car or something like that. Something special for Saturday.”

While Watson’s mother, may have to wait on a new house with the buying power of her soon-to-be millionaire son, the home she currently occupies has its own immense sentimental value. The home was provided for the family by the Habitat For Humanity when Watson was 12.

As far as what he’s going to buy for himself?

“I want a California sized king sized bed. That’s the plan.”
