Division II West Georgia had 2 2017 NFL draft picks. Georgia had 1.

Bow before the new footballing king of the state, Dawgs.

Georgia, like Ohio, Louisiana and others, is a state defined by one college football program. Sorry Georgia Tech (and other suitors), but Georgia football’s Twitter account literally used to have the handle @WeRunThisState — and it was right.

But for one night, the Dawgs were unseated as the standard bearers for the state by the West Georgia Wolves, which had two NFL draftees in the sixth round.

Out of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia State and Georgia Southern no school could muster more than one draft pick. Georgia Tech had its kicker selected, while the Bulldogs did have electric Isaiah McKenzie selected in the fifth round.

West Georgia does have a shred of history though. They’re currently in Division II, but have a Division III national championship to its credit back in 1982. They won their conference in 2015, and made the D3 playoffs that year.

Armah and Donahue are the first draft picks in school history.
