Tom Herman’s wife, Michelle, won this Oklahoma-Texas subtweet battle

This response was too good.

New Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman’s 2018 recruiting class is off to a strong start, with eight verbal commits, including five of them from blue-chip prospects. The class also features a prospect from the state of Oklahoma and four-star quarterback Cameron Rising, whom Herman successfully flipped from Oklahoma last month.

On Monday, Oklahoma defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks sent the following tweet, which seemed to be directed towards high school recruits.

Just two days later, the Texas coach’s wife Michelle decided to chime in on Twitter, staying on the subject of wolves.

Herman won that exchange, even though “wolf in sheep’s clothing” is a well-known phrase, simply because it’s cooler to be a wolf than a sheep. She also brought up the positive qualities of wolves, though.

Cooks seems to agree with the latter part. Here’s his current Twitter avi:

The OU-Texas rivalry is always a huge deal, regardless of where both programs are during a given season. This year’s Red River Rivalry will be another interesting one, with Oklahoma having won five out of the last six matchups, and Herman eager to turn things around in Austin.

We’ll see if there are any future OU-Texas Twitter spats that come about before the game on Oct. 14.

Some of the responses, both pro-Texas and not, to Mrs. Herman’s tweet were pretty great, too.

Never forget that Kansas lost to Texas last year.
